I hope you are having a great start to the day! I just got in from picking
fresh blueberries and wanted to get today’s post up for you.

As promised after yesterdays scary post on antibiotics and the problems over-use have caused, I wanted to share some information that can change many components of your overall health. If you are suffering from adult onset acne or any other problem related to the use of antibiotics, a magic bullet of sorts… that is not really magic :-).

What I’m referring to are Probiotics. They are a group of friendly bacteria that naturally live in the digestive tract and produce enzymes that protect you from harmful bacteria and support the immune system.

These intestinal flora crowd out harmful toxins producing yeast and other bacteria that can create a whole host of issues for the human body. Unfortunately, long-term antibiotic use (or antibiotic exposure from foods laden with them) kills off these extremely essential organisms.

Follow through to the next link to watch a great video on the subject. Come back and finish reading this post afterwards:

This is what I had for breakfast this morning. What you see here is probiotic yogurt (Activia Light) and fresh blueberries from my garden. This is a typical breakfast for me and its packed with antioxidants.

Probiotics can also be bought in tablet form and there are new very potent ones on the market today. Ask your pharmacist for the best options available. Here is a link to the brand that I use:

These are in the same form (along with yogurt) that I recommend to all my clients given today’s use of antibiotics and pesticides in our food sources.

This will help to reduce and eliminate inflammation in the body and support the bodies own form of hydrogen peroxides, which kills out the yeast over-growth.

It is good to note here that Candida Yeast is the same that causes the
troublesome yeast infections in women and ear infection in infants. At its
worst when it gets out of control, it can cause thrush (a yeast infection in
the mouth) and also toxic shock.

This therapy is very effective in clients when combined with the tips
I am providing next, courtesy of “The Times” as they spell out exactly the appropriate guidelines.

Medical science tells us that 90% of the immune systems health is dependent upon a healthy and balanced digestive tract. After helping thousands of clients over the years I could not agree more!

10 Tips for Good Digestive Health

1. Consume a balanced diet. Choose a variety of foods from each food group, especially fiber-rich fruits, vegetables, and grains as well as certain yogurts and fluids.

2. Establish an eating “routine.” Eat regular meals to help promote consistent bowel movements.

3. Eat small, more frequent meals. Aim for 4-5 small meals per day versus
2-3 large meals.

4. Chew more. Digestion starts in the mouth. Chew thoroughly, as chewing can help with the needed breakdown of some very important nutrients.

5. Remember a mealtime beverage (preferably water). Fluids help move solids through the digestive system and nothing works better than water to accomplish that goal.

6. Make half your plate fruits and veggies. Fiber-rich fruits and vegetables can also provide probiotics that support the growth of good bacteria in the digestive tract.

7. Eat yogurt or kefir daily. Certain yogurts and kefir contain probiotics that can help promote digestion.

8. Relax for at least one hour after eating. Give your body time to digest your meal before being active again.

9. Avoid overeating. Excessive intake can burden the digestive system and of course, will cause unnecessary weight gain that nobody likes.

10. Get Moving. Focus on fitting 30 minutes to an hour of physical activity in to each day to help promote digestive health.

Follow these tips and add probiotics to your diet and reap the benefits of good health, great skin, and a calm and properly working digestive tract!
